Baker McKenzie wanted to attract more candidates to areas such as tax, mergers and acquisitions and corporate deal structuring. But while graduates tended to appreciate advisory law (often from TV series), there was an underappreciation of transactional law and how fast-paced it could be. The firm decided to make a video that would make this world feel accessible to more degree disciplines, show the exciting mix of projects graduates could get involved with, and show the diverse range of people who are choosing careers in this area.

It created a video showcasing four different careers in corporate law, using striking sets with visual references symbolic of the person’s individual career journey and impact. One of the stories featured Lana, a championship synchronised swimmer, with a backdrop of reflected water and reflected versions of her to show her coordination and ability. Blackbridge created bespoke concept visuals using AI to get the firm on board, and sets were designed in-house and built to scale. Intelligent cinematography brought the scenes to life.

The whole ‘Graduate Scene’ campaign took incredible levels of skill, planning and time and garnered more than 12,500 views as the centrepiece of Baker McKenzie’s graduate homepage. Vacation schemes and open days filled up in record time and the firm received a high quality pool of trainee applications, with around 4,000 for this intake alone.
