Client: Building Safety Regulator (HSE)
Agency: TMP Worldwide
Industry: Property and construction
In 2017, the Building Safety Regulator was set up and tasked with the simple mission of ensuring that horrific incidents like the Grenfell Tower disaster did not happen again. Because this was a new and relatively unknown organisation, it was important to raise awareness of its vital work. A variety of positions needed to be filled, so TMP Worldwide worked with the regulator to create a hero film that could be shared online but also become embedded in a bespoke recruitment website. This film needed to stand out and compel people to act.
Initially, it was suggested that Grenfell was not mentioned due to the sensitivity around the tragedy, but it was then decided that honesty mattered if change was to happen. The video would show how building is about more than materials, but also communities, people and their stories. TMP interviewed ambassadors of BSR who could share experiences of what ‘home’ means to them and why this is an important concept to grasp if someone joins the organisation. One interviewee had been involved in the Grenfell response, and their story brought people to tears.
The film was launched as part of campaigns for a number of roles including specialist investigators, building regulators and auditors. It was shared across Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Google Display Network, generating hundreds of thousands of impressions. It was also added to the careers website. The two-minute film has already created much thought-provoking discussion in the sector.
