Soho House is a members’ club that brings creatives across the world together across a number of locations, employing more than 8,500 staff. However, as it has historically been known as a highly exclusive club, there has been little room to show what it is really like to work there. The club needed to show what it was actually like rather than candidates applying because of the allure of working there – the reality that could not be shown on social media.
The brief was to create a film that would highlight this reality while maintaining the integrity of the member brand, boost applications, reduce employee churn and improve time to hire. Research showed that the brand is a huge draw for talent, but the environment can be demanding and fast paced, so the film needed to show the energy and passion staff bring to the club every day. Chefs, receptionists and designers were put centre stage to showcase their craft, using close-up photography and stylish angled shots to show depth and dimension.
The creative team travelled to seven Soho House locations to capture the culture, and created a unique music score as a soundtrack to the film. Using motion tracking, the story could move between spaces, places, front of house and back of house while keeping employees at the centre of the frame. After the launch, there was an impressive increase in applications – an all-time high in the launch month itself – and retention has gone up by almost a fifth. The recruitment team believes the film perfectly captures the essence of its culture, and has driven up the quality of the applications.

The video it created was ‘exquisitely visually crafted’, according to our judges, showing the fast-paced nature of the business while reflecting its luxury brand.
