The pandemic led to an acute loss of learning among both university students and school leavers; while a lack of work experience and digital inequality meant many young people’s mental health was impacted. Fewer than half of Gen Z feel prepared for the future, and 22% report having a mental health disorder. EY recognised that the digital world blends seamlessly with the real world for young people, so wanted to build a virtual environment that would address some of their challenges entering the labour market.
EY Adventure Awaits is a new virtual experience that helps entry-level talent build employability skills, explore career options and learn about EY. There are six zones combining learning, games, videos and podcasts, as well as a Tranquillity Lake zone where they focus on their mental and physical wellbeing. Inclusive design is deployed throughout, with special attention to wellbeing needs or dietary requirements across different faiths. There are study playlists and even an EY yoga pose that the firm could take on campus as an ice-breaker at in-person assessment centres.
The campaign has enjoyed organic success, and there are plans to promote it further through paid social media channels, EY’s career site and on campus. Areas that have garnered the most engagement so far include Career Heights, where students can learn more about career pathways at EY.
